Figure Painting

I recently did my first extended figure in my painting class, a three day session. Previously I had done a few two an three hour poses in my figure drawing class, but nothing that lasted multiple class sessions, so this was a fun departure.

Here's the image as it appeared at the end of day's one and two:

And the final piece at the end of day three:

Until Gwen

Our latest project in Illustration was to illustrate a scene from the short story "Until Gwen" by Dennis Lehane. I decided I'd pull out the old pen and inks and try a traditional piece this time round. Thiel also had me try out some colors in photoshop afterwards pictured here:

Not sure which I prefer yet.

And if you're at all interested in some progress shots then here you go.

Illustration

Some of my illustration assignments from this year:

Our second project from last semester, a spot illustration on the theme of travel.

Fourth or fifth project of first semester, an animal cliché.

And our latest project from this semester, a piece for the charity of our choosing. I picked the This Star Won't Go Out foundation.
